Richmond, VA: Va. suicide victim’s mom blames bullying

RICHMOND — Authorities are investigating what led to the suicide of a York County high school student who had complained about being bullied and taunted by a classmate.
Sixteen-year-old Christian Taylor was found hanged in his bedroom Monday. His mother, Alise Williams, says the Grafton High School freshman had complained to school and law enforcement officials about being bullied, but nothing was done.
County School Superintendent Eric Williams says meetings were held with parents and students, and action was taken. He would not elaborate, citing privacy laws.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Ivey said authorities looked into Taylor’s complaints but determined no crime had been committed. He said they’re now investigating the death to determine whether any laws were broken.
